いよいよ本格的な夏がやってきました。 天気予報によると、今年の日本の夏もかなりの猛暑になる見込みです。ニュースを見ると、ヨーロッパなど世界各地でも記録的な熱波が容赦なく襲っているようですね。

体調管理にはくれぐれも気をつけながら、この熱い季節を充実した学びに変えていきましょう！

■ いよいよ英検「二次試験」！終わったらすぐに次の一歩を

今月は、第1回英検の二次試験（面接）が行われます。 これまで一生懸命練習してきた成果を、大舞台で存分に発揮してきてください。応援しています！

そして、ここからが大切なポイントです。 「試験が終わったら、結果発表を待たずに、次の級の学習をスタートしましょう！」

合否がわかるまでには少し時間がかかりますが、その間お休みしてしまうのはもったいない！英語力は、継続することでしか維持・向上しません。「やりきった！」という熱が冷めないうちに次のレベルの単語や文法に触れ始めることで、秋の検定でさらに上の級を狙うアドバンテージになります。

■ 【今月のワンポイント】「暑い！」を英語で表現してみよう

毎日 “It’s hot.” ばかりではつまらないですよね。世界的な猛暑（extreme heat）を表現する、生きた英語を覚えてみましょう！

• It’s scorching!（焦げるように暑い！）
• It’s boiling hot!（茹だるように暑い！）
• It’s humid and sticky.（蒸し暑くてベタベタする。）

ヨーロッパのニュース（BBCやCNNなど）をのぞいてみると、”heatwave（熱波）” という単語が毎日のように使われています。世界の「今」に耳を傾けるのも、素晴らしい英語学習になりますよ。

Summer is officially here! Forecasts predict another extremely hot summer this year. Looking at the news, regions like Europe are also suffering from historic heatwaves.

While keeping our health and safety a top priority, let’s turn this intense season into a time of great progress!

■ EIKEN Stage 2 is Here! Keep the Momentum Going

The EIKEN Stage 2 (Interview) test takes place this month. You have all practiced so hard, so go in there with your head held high and show them what you can do. We are all rooting for you!

Here is a very important piece of advice: “Don’t wait for the exam results—start preparing for the next level right away!”

It takes a few weeks to get the final results, but stopping your studies now would mean losing your momentum. The best time to take the next step is while your mind is still in “exam mode.” By starting your preparation for the next grade immediately, you will get a huge head start for the autumn session!

■ Word of the Month: Level Up Your “Hot” Vocabulary

Instead of just saying “It’s hot” every day, let’s learn some useful expressions to describe this extreme summer weather!

• It’s scorching! (It’s so hot it feels like burning!)
• It’s boiling hot! (It feels like being inside a pot of boiling water!)
• It’s humid and sticky. (Typical Japanese summer weather.)
